On February 22 Monte Carlo hosted a boxing match between the world’s champion, WBA version (Super) and WBC (Interim) middleweight title: 32-year-old Gennady Golovkin and the interim WBA world champion, 32-year-old Martin Murray (UK).
During the fight, Golovkin was slowly, but surely increasing his advantage. At the end of the third round, the citizen of Kazakhstan strongly shook the Briton, and in the fourth two times dived the opponent down by powerful blows to the body. During the break of the fifth round, it was clear that Murray's nosebleed. In the tenth round the Briton again fell to the canvas. And in the 11-th round, after several powerful and precision punches from Golovkin, the referee stopped the fight, saving the Murray from further beatings.
In such a way, the Kazakhstan Boxer, continued his glorious way at the professional ring. These is his 32th victory and 29th one by knockdown. Throughout his amateur and professional career Golovkin never appeared on the floor of the ring.
Many celebrities have visited the evening of boxing in Monte Carlo, which took place on the night of 21 to 22 February. Among them there were Prince of the Principality of Monaco Albert II and French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo. It is required to note out that before the fight, the Musicola Duet made a performance Karina Abdullina and Bulat Syzdykov sang the hymn of Kazakhstan. Strong support was shown to Golovkin by his Kazakh fans who came to see the fight. Fans loudly chanted: Gena! Gena!
One of the first who congratulated the boxer with the victory was the President of Kazakhstan – Nursultan Nazarbayev. In a telegram to Gennady Golovkin, it was pointed out that the success achieved in the duel with Murray, is «another result of the dedication, tireless work and excellent mastership». According to Nazarbayev, due to the above mentioned qualities, Gennady Golovkin proved that he worthy of the title of one of the strongest boxers in the world.
According to Martin Murray, Gennady Golovkin was the best boxer, with whom he had had to go into the ring: “It was impossible to take him away from myself. I have worked to strike there and here, but he is not worried, he continued to attack me and to cause heavy blows. It was great to compete with the boxer of his qualification, he is definitely the best fighter from those with whom I fought in my career". In addition, Martin Murray is the first opponent to Golovkin, who held out for so long against him.
Later famous Ukrainian boxer Vladimir Klichko on Twitter expressed his admiration for the victory of Kazakhstan's boxer Gennady Golovkin over the Briton Martin Murray. “Guys, have you seen the fight of Golovkin last weekend? Wow! I'm glad he's not in my division!», – wrote the world heavyweight champion by IBF, WBO, WBA and IBO version.
