Jump of Andrei Noda

Andrei Noda studied to be a chef (school), an electrician (Plant), radiotelegraph operator (Army). He engaged classic wrestling, swimming, pistol shooting, and orienteering. And between all these activities he drew a little. Drawing has won. He became a student of the university of art, among other things he painted "Flautist" (1986), which gave him the opportunity to feel like an artist. Since then he is painter, graphic artist, photographer, creator of the original artifacts.

I know Andrei Noda for over twenty years, but I never stop to be amaze turns of his brushwork. Artist easily changesstyle of image depending on the moment, the situation, frame of mind and even weather changes outside of his workshop in Talgar. In search of solitude from the noise of the city he moved to silence of the suburban house in 2000. But, there was no such luck. Friends and fans are coming to visit him, distracting or saturating his life with idle talks or perhaps with very important conversations.

At the beginning of February, I visited the hospitable home of the artist, nestled between the river and the mountain. After a long road I was offered a delicious tea, got in to armchair, and he began to show paintings that were created during 2009. First was an optimistic, bright and sonorous "Color Still Life" with a red and white table top with: smoked fish, colorful bottle and vase with flying balls of flowers. I was cheered up immediately. Then a couple of paintings appeared with the artist's favorite big-headed characters. As always, they are recognizable and unexpected, due to contrasts and nuances of lively mosaic of colors, identical with mental complex states. I, of course, was pleased with these “Face 158” and “Face 161” - so many, as of today, the artist has found versions of colorful talking about the person.

Elegant "Vase with primrose", fabulous silver "City - Island", a charming attractive "Dacha" and magnetic “Nutwood” with a dense and delicious sunlight between the thin stems started to replace each other like an amazing kaleidoscope. Soon I saw a mysterious "Working Day" in a silver palette of whicha big pink ellipse suddenly appeared like a giant solar blink or a flying ring gently dropped onto the roof.

And here are "Silhouettes" with oncoming evening. Details, particularity of shapes and brightness of colors fade slowly. Silhouettes remain and large bodies of colors: dusky ocher earth, dancing trunks under the heavy weight ofdarkening foliage, light blue-green and snowy endless slopes, black outlines of peaks. A rapid rhythm of lines and patches of color originatefrom all of this, heard melody of the earth sounds, perhaps even guessed music of the cosmic spheres. A single woman, in light clothes - colors of heaven, listens it.

Canvas "Kurt" just amazed. Surprisingly, such powerful image was born not after the meeting, for example, with a magnificent Rouen Cathedral, but with the quite usual for Kazakhstan area view. It should be noted that Andrei Noda lovesto travel accompanied by his wife and artist Natalia Litvinova and son Vassenka from Almaty to Karaganda, where he lived over ten years from the graduation of Theatre and Art Institute. Along the way, they enthusiastically explore all the features of the landscape, referring to the detailed maps and asking old-timers. And they know this part of our country very well. Later, each of them captures the most loved views in their paintings. Differently, of course.

So, Kurty. I have been there a quarter-century ago and nothing impressed me, the capital city-inhabitant, except one street in the middle of the settlement. Especially the image that was created by Andrei surprised me. Three white rural homes within rosy evening steppe as if determining the center of the universe, are located behind the vinous road- river lined on the bottom edge by blue boulders and fragile saplings. The composition does not develop as much in a depth, butfrom the bottom-up. And there in this spurt from the dense lower red layer to pink pasty top is a feeling of flight through space and time. And at the same time, harmony of the existence of man and nature is presumed constant. How simply and strongly, artist materialized his feelings that appeared during the family trip, summarizing the color characteristics.

After "Kurty", it seemed that nothing could surprise and please me. However, the artist has put on an easel his latest work. And then, I cried out of the completeness of the feelings, unable to understand what was happening: gorgeous color reigned on the canvas, sunset, red as the Marseillaise, was fading away. It touched the wall of a village house, wherestripes of white snow and deep blue sky, visible through the branches, lay behind - gorgeous enamel. Radiant red cover is not homogeneous: the shadows glide on it, reporting about live imperfections of the ground lightened by something golden and blue. Echoes of the heavens make themselves known.

Such a wonderful picture is called not effectively - "Outskirts 12". The number says not about the number of suburbs that the artist has seen, butabout the distinctive features ofthe same one. Perhaps this is happiness - to live on the edge of oecumene! Even if it is located near Almaty, close to noisy Talgar River. In this composition, nature and abstraction wonderfully joined each other. The artist says that he would like to create an abstract painting, but the energy of field experience requires at least a minor presence of the real world, even transformed by the artistic vision of the artist. Element of pure color and abstract composition are stillin front, but not far away, Andrei Noda is always ready to jump into the undiscovered space. However, I amsatisfied with the aesthetics of coexistence in his paintings poetry ofconcrete and philosophy of abstract.

Seen canvases convinced me once again that the brush and paints in the hands of a talented artist can capture the infinite variety of emotional responses to the beauty of the world, located right under the hand or in the depths of the imagination.
